Viewpoints is an improvisation and creation technique that allows performers to broaden their awareness of the relationship with space and time, providing them with the development of listening skills, intuition, and autonomy in the creative process. Created by Mary Overlie, a choreographer and creator with affiliations in post-modern dance, Viewpoints were adapted and further developed by Anne Bogart for theater. Throughout the work sessions, the goal is to introduce the vocabulary - SPACE, TIME, SHAPE, MOVEMENT, STORY, and EMOTION, through exercises that promote free improvisation and empower participants with an intuitive and spontaneous approach to scenic action. This is intended for all performers in the fields of theater, dance, singing, and music interested in experimenting with Viewpoints training.
Manuela Ferreira was an artist at the SITI Conservatory 16-17 with Anne Bogart's SITI Company in New York, where she trained in Suzuki and Viewpoints and directed the show Adam & Evie by Chuck Mee.
