The Então Vamos! project was born in 2014 in São Torcato, as part of the Participatory Budgeting, promoted by the Municipality of Guimarães. It is a collective of senior citizens, theater-makers who give back to their fellow spectator accomplices valuable stories that narrate the heritage of a community and territory.

This form of participatory-inspired theater has, over the last 6 years, refined methodologies and processes. The self-authored dramaturgy results from collaborative writing processes, whose central theme revolves around memory and personal heritage as starting points in the construction of dramatic fictions. The scenic material takes shape through play and improvisation. There is a continual search to experiment and diversify unusual protocols for engaging with the audience, both in the follow-up and participation in the creation processes and in the formats and scenic devices that often occupy unconventional spaces.

Now with an artistic signature, the Então Vamos! project also asserts itself as a form of community intervention, civic, and political participation.
